The PE department are considering a new PE kit from September 2015. I must stress at this early stage parents are NOT required to buy the new kit if their child wishes to continue wearing the old kit and it fits perfectly well. The change can be a gradual one. The kit will be compulsory for the new year 7’s.
There are a number of reasons for this change, one being feedback from the students through a recent questionnaire where 56% of students wished for the PE kit to be changed/updated in some way. Student voice plays a big role at St Sampson’s High School and we take on board the thoughts and opinions of our students, as we do parents.
Through extensive research we have noticed that St Sampson’s High School needs to ‘get more with the times’ in regards of the weight/lightness of PE tops and offering more diversity within our range of PE kit. For example, offering girls the opportunity to be/feel more comfortable in wearing either full or ¾ length leggings. A leading school in the UK stated “Our PE kit was designed in consultation with the student body – they came up with the design and cut so that they’re flattering.” We have also noticed many sports stars wearing hoodies to either train or warm-up with and this is another item which we are keen to provide for our students.
We are currently asking for any parents to get in touch with the PE department if they have any ideas/concerns with this proposal. Please email Andrew.email@example.com
More details and designs will be sent out soon but initial research through the student council has shown the following to be popular (purple due to colour of SSHS ties and purple on the school badge). The top will have SSHS PE (in white) on the left crest.
