This year the House Managers and myself decided that our ‘Children in Need’ event should follow a new format. Other managers in the school were very supportive but our compromise was to swap the Thursday and Friday timetables around so that yet another Friday was not impacted by students being off timetable.
Many tutor groups ran stalls and activities in their classrooms and students wandered around the building during lessons five and six of the 15th November. Each of the three school houses offered a variety of enticing options (twenty six in all) but most charged around twenty or thirty pence only to take part with the prospect of winning a prize.
Among the events and activities which students and staff could be involved with were ‘Name the Bear’, ‘Cake Stall’, ‘Shove a Coin’, ‘Pin the Bandana on Pudsey’, ‘Which Teacher’s Teddy Bear?’, ‘Chubby Bunnies’, ‘Doughnuts on a String’ and ‘Splat the Rat’.
The afternoon was a great success and students were heard rehearsing their list of stalls to visit and in which order as they wandered along the upper and lower streets. For all their enjoyment we never lost sight of the reasons for this venture and our grand total reflects this fact;
- Total raised £1223.80
- Brecqhou raised £397.15
- Lihou raised £354.03
- Jethou raised £472.62
