Row to Herm 2013

The Year 10 ASDAN class completed their ‘Working with Others’ module today (Wednesday 20th March) by successfully rowing the distance to Herm (3 miles – or 240 lengths) in the school pool. It was a challenge they came up with themselves; with a time limit of 3 hours! They finished in an impressive time of 2 hours and 58 minutes! There were approximately 12 capsizes but the team kept their morale up by encouraging each other and stocking up their energy levels with snacks!

At break-time other students were invited to watch from the balcony, and were asked to donate a minimum of 20p. There was some great support in the form of singing and cheering, including a very special version of ‘Row, Row, Row Your Boat’ from Robson Kirk!

The team also spoke to the Guernsey Press about how they had organised the event and how much work it had taken to put it on from making posters and selling the tickets to writing letters to the media and remembering their swimming kit!

We would also like to thank Miss Dale for lifeguarding (and counting!) for the whole morning.

Well done guys!
